As the New Year approaches, are everyone busy preparing New Year's goods. Finally, we need to do a big cleaning at home. Do we also need to arrange maintenance and cleaning for our car that we ride for a year? In addition to cleaning the exterior of our car, it is also necessary to maintain the three major systems of our car. Today, the editor will take you to see how to maintain the three major systems of a bicycle.

drive system
The transmission system is an important component that transmits our power to the wheelset and carries us forward. In order to convert more power into our riding speed, we need to maintain the efficient operation of the transmission system. The important chains and teeth in the transmission system are exposed to the air and are easily contaminated by the environment, contaminated with a large amount of mud, sand, and dust, causing the transmission system to be sluggish, increasing resistance, resulting in significant loss of force transmission, and making it easier to wear parts during rotation.
Lubricating oil is essential for ensuring smooth operation of bicycles, usually just one layer is enough, with particular emphasis on the links, transmission system, and brake lines. After dripping the chain oil, remember to wipe off too much oil, otherwise it will drip onto the frame. After each ride, wrap the chain with clean non-woven fabric and turn the crank counterclockwise to wipe away the dust on the surface of the chain and keep it clean. In addition, according to the different riding conditions and mileage, the transmission system should be thoroughly cleaned in a timely manner, and new chain oil should be added for lubrication.

Transmission
The transmission system is one of the important core components of the entire bicycle, and in order to achieve the best performance of the bicycle, it is necessary to always maintain the cleanliness and performance of the transmission system.
1. Daily maintenance, wipe the transmission every week or every 200 kilometers, use a clean soft cloth to wipe the front and rear transmission surfaces, remove dust and oil stains.
2. Regular lubrication and maintenance should be carried out every 3000-5000 kilometers or after cycling in rainy or snowy weather. Dip a brush in kerosene to scrub the front and rear transmissions, clean them, and then wipe off the kerosene with a cotton cloth. Then drip lubricating oil at each axle point of the transmission. The guide wheel and tension wheel can be removed and cleaned with kerosene. After cleaning, butter should be applied to the shaft and pin of the guide wheel and tension wheel, and then installed and pulled back.

Braking system
The bicycle brake system, as the system that ensures riding safety and the most important line of defense for bicycle safety, should be cleaned with a little disc brake system cleaner to clean the calipers and pistons. Afterwards, lubricate the piston according to the brake brand you are using. For DOT brake fluid brakes, silicone oil is generally used for lubrication. However, for Shimano's disc brake system, no lubricating oil is usually used after cleaning. Because Shimano's calipers are prone to getting oil on the brake pads, to avoid unnecessary trouble, just clean them thoroughly. Cotton swabs are a good tool for cleaning pistons.
