Bicycle Design Regulations

The production scale of bicycles is very large, ranging from tens of thousands to millions of units, belonging to large-scale or mass production. Developing with minimal cutting is the direction of bicycle parts manufacturing. With the continuous development of forging and cold stamping processes, the cutting allowance has decreased and the cutting process has been shortened. However, cutting machining is still an indispensable process for parts to achieve finished products. A regular bicycle has about half of its parts processed through cutting, and about a quarter of its parts are mainly processed through cutting. From this, it can be seen that the goal of cutting technology is to produce qualified products with the simplest processing method, shortest process flow, and highest production efficiency. For this reason, metal cutting processes usually adopt the following methods:

1. Choose high-efficiency specialized equipment, such as single axis and multi axis automatic specialized lathes, multi axis specialized drilling machines, multi station combination machine tools, etc.
2. Design and manufacture specialized process equipment to ensure the implementation of the process.
3. Use hard alloy cutting tools for high-speed cutting.
4. Try to concentrate the process and adopt a multi blade cutting method, so that more machining surfaces can be completed in the same process, compressing the process flow to the shortest possible extent.
5. Except for certain surfaces with special requirements, the surface is generally processed using a single cutting process to minimize machining time.
6. Detailed process specifications must be developed to guide production.
7. Implement a rigorous testing system, ensure timely feedback of quality information, and prevent or reduce the generation of waste products. Parts with cutting as the main process can be roughly divided into four types according to their shape:
8. Disk shaped parts: such as axle blocks, axle bowls, flower plates, central axle blocks, central axle bowls, etc.
9. Small parts: such as the upper joint of the pull tube, the lower joint of the pull tube, the brake handle bracket, nuts, screws, etc.
10. Axle components: such as front axle rods, middle axle rods, rear axle rods, pull tubes, etc.
11. Non rotating parts: such as left and right cranks, brake levers, etc.
According to the structure and requirements of the parts, the cutting process of the parts mainly includes turning, drilling, and threading.
