Riding a bicycle, as a common form of exercise, has multiple effects on the body. It can effectively enhance cardiovascular function, exercise muscles, improve body coordination, and other benefits. The world of cycling is colorful, with both joy and sorrow. When we unfortunately collide while riding a bicycle, having a set of ideas to solve unexpected situations is an essential skill for us cyclists. This can maximize our own interests when we encounter danger. Here are some of my thoughts and steps on dealing with unexpected situations:
1. Ensure safety: If possible and without serious injury, move yourself and your bicycle to the roadside to avoid further danger. Turn on hazard warning lights and use high visibility equipment to alert other road users.
2. Assess the injury: Check whether oneself and other related personnel are injured. If there is any suspicion of a fracture or severe bleeding, please try not to move and seek emergency help.
3. Accident reporting: According to the legal requirements of the country or region, report the accident to the police. Even minor property damage needs to be reported in some places.
4. Collect information: Exchange contact information with all parties involved and witnesses, record the brand, model, license plate number, and insurance details of the vehicle.
5. Taking photos for evidence: Take photos of the accident scene, including any damaged bicycle parts, personal belongings (such as helmets), road conditions, etc., for future use as evidence.
6. Keep damaged items: Do not discard or repair any damaged items. This includes bicycles and their accessories, cycling clothes, etc.
7. Contact the insurance company: Contact your or the other party's insurance company regarding the accident situation and provide necessary details, such as the specific circumstances of the loss and third-party information involved.
8. Pay attention to health: Pay attention to your physical condition, especially the symptoms that may occur after a head injury. Follow the advice of medical professionals for subsequent treatment.
9. Equipment inspection: Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the bicycle after collision, and if necessary, have a professional evaluate the safety of the frame. For helmets, they usually need to be replaced after being impacted, even if the damage is not visible on the surface.
By following the above steps, I believe it can help you handle relevant matters properly after an accident occurs, protect your rights and ensure safety.
